On March 7th at 15:30, President Lu Dan and Professor Sujit Banerji of the University of Warwick signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the VIP Room of Shuhai Building. Both sides agreed to develop international cooperation in teaching, research and other areas.
On the afternoon on March 6th, President Lu Dan and Professor Sujit Banerji were glad to meet each other again after their first meeting about half year before. Sujit Banerji indicated that University of Warwick sincerely hopes to cooperate with Sanya University. After half a year’s consideration, University of Warwick had developed the framework for cooperation with Sanya University, and this time he came on behalf of the University of Warwick to express the university's commitment to cooperate with Sanya University.
In October of 2011, Lu Dan went to investigate the University of Warwick. After investigation and negotiation, Sanya University determined to establish cooperation with the University of Warwick, which ranks in the top 50 universities of the world and in the top 4 in Britain.
The University of Warwick was founded in 1965. Compared with other universities in Britain, it doesn’t possess a long history, but it has developed very quickly. The University of Warwick in its short history has won substantial academic prestige in Britain and throughout Europe, consistently ranking among the top ten universities in Britain.
The University of Warwick representatives were also impressed by the rapid development of Sanya University. Both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Sanya University invited the University of Warwick to pay a return visit in March of 2012 for more detailed cooperation.
During his visit this time, Sujit Banerji arrived with a mature framework for cooperation which included joint training, support for research, mutual course development, teacher exchange, Master Degree Programs, etc.
Sujit Banerji was shown around the Egret�CCreek Art Gallery where works produced by the students in Sanya University are exhibited. He accepted a beautiful piece of artwork produced by the students in Sanya University, and the Car Model designed for Volvo by the students in Sanya University impressed him a lot.
In order for students in Sanya University to have direct communication with Sujit Banerji, Lu Dan invited Sujit Banerji to a University Presidents’ dialogue in the Studio of UCTV. They introduced how the two schools cooperate with each other and the blueprint for future development.
Lu Dan indicated in the Dialogue that he visited and familiarized himself with the professional classes and laboratories at the University of Warwick. The rapid development of Sanya University and its plan to quickly become an excellent and renowned educational institution has much in common with the inspiring achievements of the University of Warwick.
Sujit Banerji expressed that he was impressed by Sanya University. Like the University of Warwick, Sanya University is a newly established school. He said that he looked forward to a long and deep cooperation with this enterprising and farsighted college.
